Terms of Service — MediConsult

1. Acceptance of these terms

By creating an account, browsing, or booking a consultation on MediConsult ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service together with our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree with any part, please stop using the Platform.

2. Who we are

MediConsult is operated by MediConsult Health Technologies Pvt. Ltd., a company incorporated in India. We are a marketplace connecting patients with verified clinicians. We are NOT a medical provider and do not deliver medical advice ourselves — every consultation is between you and your chosen doctor.

3. Eligibility

You must be 18 or older to register. Patients under 18 may use the Platform only under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms. Doctors must hold a valid medical registration with the Medical Council of India (MCI), a State Medical Council (SMC), or equivalent statutory body recognised under Indian law.

4. Verification of clinicians

We verify each clinician's registration number, qualifications and clinic address before listing their profile. Verification is documentary only — we do not independently audit clinical competence, bedside manner, or specific treatment outcomes. We may revoke verification at any time.

5. Bookings, fees and refunds

Consultation fees are set by each clinician and displayed before payment.
A platform fee (typically 8%) plus applicable GST is added at checkout. The total you see is what you pay.
Payment is collected via Razorpay (UPI, cards, net banking, wallets, EMI). Razorpay is the merchant of record for transactions on the Platform.
Patient funds are held in escrow until the consultation is completed.
You may cancel a booking and request a full refund within 12 hours of payment. Refunds settle to the original payment method within 5–7 business days.
Doctor-initiated cancellations trigger a 100% refund immediately.
No-shows by the patient are not refundable, but we will help you re-book at no platform fee.

6. Medical advice, prescriptions and emergencies

Information on the Platform is for general information only and is not a substitute for an in-person examination.
Telemedicine consults follow the Telemedicine Practice Guidelines 2020 issued by the Board of Governors in supersession of the MCI.
Prescriptions issued through MediConsult are valid only when generated by the registered clinician you consulted with.
The Platform is NOT for medical emergencies. If you are experiencing chest pain, severe bleeding, suicidal thoughts, or any other life-threatening symptom, call 108 (ambulance) or 112 (all-India emergency) immediately.

7. Your account and content

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential. Notify us at once if you suspect unauthorised access. Any content you upload (photos, ID documents, medical records, reviews) remains yours; you grant us a limited licence to store, display and process it strictly to operate the Platform and provide the consultation service.

8. Acceptable use

Don't impersonate another person or clinician.
Don't scrape, mirror or republish the doctor directory.
Don't upload material that is unlawful, defamatory, or infringes anyone's intellectual property.
Don't attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or probe the Platform's security.
Reviews must reflect your actual experience. Fake reviews — positive or negative — will be removed and may lead to account suspension.

9. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close any account that violates these Terms, places the Platform or other users at legal/safety risk, or has been inactive for more than 24 months. You may close your account at any time from your dashboard; we will retain transactional records as required by Indian tax and consumer-protection law.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MediConsult's aggregate liability for any claim arising out of your use of the Platform is capped at the total fees you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for the medical outcomes of any consultation.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify MediConsult against any third-party claim arising out of your breach of these Terms, your content, or your use of the Platform.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified via email and on the Platform at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute will first be referred to mediation in Bengaluru. Where mediation fails, the courts at Bengaluru shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
